If you have a layover in Kenya and plan to leave the airport during your stopover, you will need this travel authorization before you arrive. The transit eTA covers a stay of up to 3 days and requires a clear passport scan with at least six months validity, a recent photo, and confirmed travel bookings showing your arrival and onward journey. You do not need this eTA if you remain inside the airport terminal throughout your layover. I found the Kenya Transit eTA section helpful for understanding the permitted activities during your stopover, like resting at a hotel, brief sightseeing, or meeting family and friends. However, you cannot work or extend your stay beyond the transit period. Standard processing takes 3 to 5 days, rush takes 2 to 3 days, and super rush gets you approval within 1 to 2 days. The single entry transit eTA stays valid for 90 days, while the multiple entry option covers a full year. If your flight gets delayed and you need extra time, contact immigration authorities immediately to avoid any issues. Carry a printed copy of your eTA along with your travel documents when you arrive.
